January 1942

- [first line illegible] of 30th December, I
found it so lovely. There was something of a New Year's atmosphere about it.
My dear Muttel (Mummy), do get weIl soon. Just don't start the New Year
being ill. Very surprised, but very glad, to hear that Herta's expecting a
little one. Would love to be there at the birth. It's time for a girl again.
Wish her all the best from me. You get together with Herta and Lilly and family
quite often. I think that's lovely. Ingrid's Christmas table must have been
beautiful. I know that nothing's too expensive or lovely and that I needn 't
worry about my dearest one. I know she couldn't be in a better place. Just
want to be in your midst again, between parents and sisters. The
weather's like yours, cold and wet. Have the bombing raids stopped
completely? Did the Polaschke family have to sleep with you? One can't be
out late on the streets anymore. Best wishes for Lilly's birthday. You're
welcome to write more often, like now, at the end of the month and at the
beginning, and again at the end. Kiss, Irma
